PUTRAJAYA: The Green Technology Financing Scheme (GTFS) will continue until 2022 with the Government approving a RM5bil allocation, said Energy, Green Technology and Water Minister Datuk Seri Maximus Johnity Ongkili. "An allocation of RM5bil has been approved for the second round of the scheme to start in 2018 and end in 2022," he said after a meeting of the Green Technology and Climate Change Council (MTHPI) here Thursday. He added that the scheme will be known as GTFS 2.0 and would have several enhancements. Maximus, however, did not elaborate on the enhancements, but said the scheme has produced local green technology entrepreneurs with a funding of RM2.96bil for 272 projects. The GTFS scheme was introduced in 2010 with a funding of RM3.5bil and it was originally scheduled to end in December. “The implementation of GTFS is important to ensure that projects that are green technology-based continue to receive funding and support, which will contribute to the growth and development of the country’s green technology industry,” said Maximus. .........
